Because I had previously linked to classmates blogs in a previous post, I am going to post three other blogs.

A Day In The Life of A County Fair Enthusiast
To begin, the following images are not in chronological order, however, I will do my best to take you through my day at Lima, Ohio's Allen County Fair. This county fair is one of the biggest in Ohio and has been in existence for 151 years. I have been attending this week long event since the day I was born and haven't missed one yet. Though I did not raise livestock, i was at one point an avid 4-H member participating in the k-9 program (showing an training dogs-much like AKC dog shows on TV). I look forward to it every year, and though some might think I am crazy for loving the smell of animals and fried foods and getting my feet muddy walking the grounds, to them i say, don't knock it before you try it. This past summer I had the opportunity to photograph the fair everyday for a week, and here are just some of the thousands of photos I walked away with. Have fun enjoying the sights of a home town county fair.
One of the Fair's entertainment options, The Rough Truck Contest....Locals get to take old trucks and modify them and race them through a dirt track hoping for the best time and the first place prize.
Buck Cherry, Papa Roach, and Hinder performed this year at our fair. Even though I do not care for any of these bands, it was still great entertainment for many others
Every year the local high school bands perform in a battle of the bands on the dirt horse racing track.
Though I'm not much of a ride enthusiast anymore, I still love this double ferris wheel...it has become the Allen County Fair's icon and has been around for as long as I can remember.
Watching the 4-H horse riders practice after a hard rain....caught a glimpse of a young rider in a mud puddle. Definitely got splashed a few good times trying to get this photo.
I can't even count the number of screaming children walking off of this ride. They seem kind of primitive compared to roller coasters, but these rides are a blast, even if they are propelled by old tires and rusty chains.
One of the many things available to purchase at the fair...Many of the local growers enter their produce in competitions...biggest tomato, tallest corn stalk, heaviest pumpkin etc. You name it, and the fair probably has a category of competition for it. They also have categories for best baked cake, oldest antiques, and quilt sewing.
One of the many animals just hanging around. This cow was too goofy to not take a photo of, great shadow and snot too.
The "Best Dressed Pig" competition put on by the 4-H members. Kids as young as 4 years old gate these big pigs around in costumes that they choose and hope they can come away with the big prise. I think this pig was supposed to be little bow peep.

Commenting on Classmate Blogs
Comments:
"I always like to see the way your drawings and other work begin to develop, and I think this is a really good illustration of that. You were talking about how you want to continue working on these, i really think they would look good as paintings (like you mentioned possibly using a projector), larger scale perhaps? Either way, I really enjoy the work."

"That is very good connection to make between those lyrics in the stall and the way we should perceive certain or all aspects of our life. I really like how you have made a valiant effort to take what some people may see as simply "bathroom scribble" and challenge people to use it as daily advice or food for thought. I also like how this becomes a little more personal from the female college student's standpoint in that I am guessing many of these writings aren't too far away or hard to actually find. I have to admit I've been looking in the campus bathrooms hoping to find something you have posted on your blog. Looks good so far though!"

"This is a really incredible video. It really made me think about life (not to sound cheesy) But Carl Sagan, makes so many great points about the way we think of our lives and daily problems, conflicts, conquers and how they seem like the end all be all of our existence. As far as being an intelligent observer, I would definitely say that you are, there are a lot of really great posts on your blog, and they really got me to think. Great job so far, I look forward to continuing reading what you find/have to say."

A Blog Critique: Matt Brumage
This blog, though a simple and standard template, keeps the viewers attention. It has a few additions that really caught my eye, and I really enjoyed playing with the Voki character (an avatar that talks), which gives the blog a little room viewer to computer interactivity. Matt has also added a very nice video bar at the top of his page to allow readers to further investigate certain topics with ease (e.g. his favorite guitar post). In this blog’s content, Matt Brumage offers short critiques on things that he finds interesting, namely video gaming and music. He offers a nice short review for a moderately priced guitar accompanied with a video. He also discusses, in some length his personal experiences with the new Play station 3. Upon purchasing one for himself and using it, he offers readers the chance to understand his overall positive experience with the system. On the whole, I feel like the blog can serve as his own personal advertisement for the things that he really enjoys and hopes to recommend to other people. I think this blog, thus far is successful. I would however like to see a few more posts, but with it being a new blog, I find that getting started is the hardest part. I like that he has incorporated multiple interactive elements such as the Widgets, and it also gave me a few ideas for my own blog as well. This blog intends to give readers insight to not only Matt’s personal preferences for entertainment, but also as a window for viewers to possibly venture out and try one of the gaming systems or musical instruments that he discusses. This blog helps the reader to not only discover a little bit of Matt’s interests, but to help them realize some of their own as well.

Blog Statement
My intention for this blog is to discuss the mediocrity and seemingly apathetic lifestyles of many people in the Midwest. Though many inhabitants of the Midwest are hardworking citizens who in a whole contribute to the world, the slow pace of life and lack of interest in change among mostly rural communities and small towns strikes me as a topic to discuss. While discussing the lifestyles of the rural Midwest, i would also like to introduce some of my artwork (in which the general theme lies under this topic) and get feedback from fellow bloggers and readers. It is not meant to be a degrading write up on Midwesterners, rather a discussion and critical analysis dealing with the seemingly mediocre aspects of the Midwest and looking at them in comparison to the rest of the world that continues to move through an era of technological revolution.
